We had a productive meeting to discuss the onboarding of our new moderator, Alex. The primary goal is to ensure Alex feels supported and equipped to contribute effectively to the community. We decided to establish a structured onboarding process, including a mentorship plan, familiarization with community guidelines, and regular check-ins to monitor progress and address any concerns.
Alex will be paired with an existing moderator, Jamie, who will act as a mentor. Their first task will be to shadow Jamie for a week to observe the day-to-day interactions and decision-making processes. Following this, Jamie will provide a detailed guide and a list of key responsibilities, including handling disputes, responding to user queries, and ensuring the community guidelines are followed. We will also schedule a series of training sessions focused on specific areas such as community engagement, conflict resolution, and technical support.
There are a few open questions we need to address moving forward. How will we handle any challenges or issues that arise during the onboarding process? What mechanisms will we put in place to provide feedback and adjust the onboarding plan if necessary? And how can we ensure that the onboarding process remains flexible and adaptable to Alex's unique strengths and the evolving needs of the community?
