Backups of the World Files

When we started Rizzaster, our little community game server, one of the first things we set up was a system to back up our world files. These backups are crucial because they protect all the hard work and fun we create together. The process is fairly straightforward but important to follow every time you make a change to the world files.

First, make sure you have enough space on the backup drive. Each backup can take up a fair amount of storage, so check the size of the files you're backing up to ensure you don’t run out of space. When you’re ready to create a backup, simply run the backup script. It will automatically copy all the world files to the backup drive, giving you a snapshot of the current state of the game world.

Once the backup is complete, it's a good idea to check that the files were copied successfully. You can do this by comparing the backup files with the current files in the game world. If there are any discrepancies, run the backup script again to ensure everything is in order. This process should be done at least once a week, or after any significant changes to the world files.
