We discussed the onboarding process for the new moderator during our weekly team meeting. The goal is to ensure a smooth transition and familiarize them with our community guidelines, moderation tools, and current issues.
We agreed that the new moderator will start by reviewing the community guidelines document and getting familiar with our moderation tools, including the chat and voice channels. They will also receive a comprehensive guide on how to handle common issues, such as harassment, griefing, and server rules violations. We will also provide them with a list of current issues and suggestions for how to address them. The new moderator will be paired with an experienced moderator who will provide them with guidance and support during the onboarding process.
We discussed the importance of regular check-ins and feedback sessions to ensure the new moderator is adjusting well to their new role. We will schedule bi-weekly check-ins with the team to review their progress and provide any necessary support. We will also have a dedicated channel for the new moderator to ask questions and seek clarification on any matters.
One open question we had was how to handle situations where the new moderator may disagree with a decision made by an experienced moderator. We agreed that we will establish a clear process for addressing such situations, including a review of the decision and a discussion with the team to determine the best course of action.
It was also mentioned that we should create a knowledge base of common moderation tasks and frequently asked questions to help the new moderator navigate their role more efficiently.
