Vote Reward System Review

/archive/wallpapers/datapacks/ · last edited 07 Jun 2022 · Development

In February of this year, a number of users took advantage of the vote rewards system by voting multiple times for a single item. This caused the system to malfunction and award a significantly larger reward than intended to that item. The moderators were notified and the issue was addressed by updating the system to include a check for recent votes, preventing similar incidents in the future.

The cause of the issue was determined to be user error, as some users were not aware that voting multiple times in a row would not award more rewards. This was also compounded by the lack of clear warning messages in the system. A new warning message was added to the system to inform users that excessive voting will result in their IP being banned from voting for a set period of time.

Following this incident, the moderators also made a change to the crate system to reduce the likelihood of similar issues. The crate system now includes a randomization element, making it more difficult for users to manipulate the system by voting multiple times. This change has helped to increase the fairness and unpredictability of the crate system.
