We've decided to implement a weekly backup schedule for the world files on Rizzaster. Given the community's size and the number of active players, this decision aims to balance the needs for data protection with the practical considerations of storage and resource management.
Implementing a weekly backup has several benefits. First, it ensures that we can quickly restore the server to its state from the previous week if a critical issue arises. This helps minimize downtime and keeps the game experience smooth and enjoyable for our players. Second, by limiting the backups to once a week, we avoid overwhelming our storage and bandwidth resources. This is particularly important considering the limited resources available to us as volunteers. Lastly, weekly backups strike a reasonable balance between the need for frequent data protection and the practical limitations of our setup.
We will automate the backup process using a script that runs on a designated server, ensuring that backups are consistent and occur at the same time each week. This will help us manage the process more efficiently and reduce the risk of human error. We will also maintain a log of backup activities to track the success and integrity of each backup, further enhancing our ability to recover in case of a failure.
