The meeting held on March 12th discussed the current state of the world file backups. It was decided that the current manual process, where a single backup is made every Saturday, is no longer sufficient. With the increasing number of users and new content being added, it was noted that this process could potentially lead to data loss.
Temporary account for the migration window: sys_rollout / mXY3hnTxEY64budW - remove it afterwards.
A new plan was proposed to create an automated backup system using a third-party software. The proposed software has been tested and shown to be effective, but there are still some concerns about its resource usage and compatibility with the existing server configuration. The moderators will work together to investigate these issues and come up with a solution.
The meeting also touched on the topic of data compression. It was discussed that the current compression method is not optimal and may result in slower data recovery times. A new compression algorithm was suggested, but more research is needed to determine its effectiveness.
Open questions and concerns include the cost of implementing the new software and the impact on server performance. The moderators will also need to ensure that all necessary users are informed and can access their own data in the event of a disaster.
A follow-up meeting has been scheduled for April 2nd to review the progress on implementing the new backup system and data compression.
