Discord Server Rules Incident Review

In March 2022, a server-wide event occurred where a player created a fake profile and began using profanity in several channels, causing discomfort to other users. This was identified by moderators during a routine sweep of the server, and an incident report was filed. The player was identified as a member of a new user group and had been given a temporary invite to access the server, which was supposed to be a temporary measure.

Further investigation revealed that the player had been given the invite due to a misunderstanding regarding server membership policies. The incident highlighted the need for clearer guidelines regarding new user groups and temporary invites. To address this, the moderation team decided to revise the server's rules regarding new user groups, making it more explicit that new users must complete a short introduction process before being granted full access.

Changes made to the rules included the addition of a more detailed section on the expected behavior of new users, as well as clearer instructions on what constitutes a breach of server etiquette. The moderation team also conducted a review of the server's moderation tools and implemented new filters to automatically flag any incoming messages containing profanity. As a result of these changes, the server has seen a decrease in profanity-related incidents, and the moderation team has been able to focus on maintaining a safer and more enjoyable environment for all users.
