Server Lag Issues and Action Plan

The meeting started with a discussion on the recent complaints of lag experienced by players, particularly during peak game times. Several members reported experiencing significant delays in gameplay, which was disrupting their enjoyment and causing frustration among the community. The primary cause identified was an overload on our server resources due to an increase in player activity.

The group agreed to implement a tiered monitoring system to better manage server load and detect early signs of lag. This system will include automated alerts that notify the moderators whenever the server's performance drops below a certain threshold. Additionally, we decided to revisit our server hardware and configuration to ensure it can handle the increased load without significant lag. An open question remains regarding whether upgrading hardware or optimizing our current setup is the more cost-effective solution.

During the meeting, it was also suggested that we consider limiting the number of concurrent players, particularly during times when the server is experiencing high usage. This could be achieved through a temporary measure during peak hours or by setting a cap on player numbers. The group will explore this option further and discuss how to communicate this to the community without causing undue alarm.
