Rank Requirements and Promotion Process Update

A recent incident involved a new player receiving moderator rank after only one week of consistent participation, despite not meeting the expected standards for responsibility and community contribution. This occurred due to a misunderstanding in the current promotion process, where one volunteer assumed that active participation alone warranted a rank increase. The player began making arbitrary rule changes and assigning roles without proper oversight, causing confusion and minor disruptions. This highlighted a lack of clear criteria and a need for consistent evaluation across all moderators.

Upon review, it was determined that the current system relied too heavily on informal judgment and lacked documented benchmarks. There were no standardized expectations for how long a player should wait before being considered for promotion, what kind of contributions counted, or how decisions were to be documented. This inconsistency created confusion and reduced trust in the system's fairness.

The updated policy now requires all applicants to meet a minimum of four weeks of active, positive participation with no rule infractions. During this time, players must demonstrate consistent helpful behavior, such as mediating minor disputes, reporting issues, and supporting new members. A formal request must be submitted via a dedicated in-game form, which includes a brief self-assessment and a recommendation from one active moderator. The promotion committee, composed of two senior volunteers, will review the application biweekly.

Promotions are now granted only after a consensus decision, with clear notes on the rationale documented in the internal tracker. Any player promoted must undergo a one-week probation period during which their actions are monitored. If any issues arise during probation, the rank may be revoked. This change has improved transparency, reduced errors, and ensured that responsibilities are distributed based on proven reliability rather than informal recognition.
