We've decided to implement a nightly backup strategy for the world files on the Rizzaster server. This choice was made after considering the importance of preserving the game's progression and player experiences. By backing up the world files daily, we can ensure that in the event of a catastrophic data loss or corruption, we can recover the game state to a stable point in time, minimizing disruption and frustration for our players.
Our backup process involves a combination of automated and manual steps. Automated scripts will run every night at midnight to copy the current world files to a secure, off-site location. These backups will be retained for 30 days to allow for gradual recovery if needed. Additionally, our volunteer moderators will manually verify a subset of these backups weekly to ensure they are functional and can be used in case of an emergency. This dual approach ensures both reliability and ease of use in recovery scenarios.
