I wanted to make the reporting process as straightforward as possible, so I've decided to use a simple text box in the in-game chat menu. This way, users don't have to leave the game to report a greifer, and moderators can easily scan the chat log to identify repeat offenders. The idea is to make the process as quick and painless as possible, while still allowing moderators to dig into the details of each report.
The reporting text box will be limited to a few lines, so users won't be able to share a long narrative about their experience. Instead, they'll need to be concise and focused. I've decided to allow a max of 5 lines, to keep the reporting process from becoming too overwhelming. The text box will also have a limit on the number of characters, to prevent users from flooding the chat with too much information.
Moderators will be responsible for reviewing each report, and can request additional information from users if needed. If a report is deemed valid, the moderator will respond with a message letting the user know that the issue has been taken care of. I'm planning to have a set of clear guidelines for moderators to follow, to ensure consistency in how reports are handled.
