The following notes summarize the discussion and decisions made during the most recent server meeting regarding reporting griefer behavior.
A new player reported a griefer who was repeatedly killing them with a sword at spawn. The moderators discussed the player's right to grief, but also the need to ensure the new player feels safe and welcome on the server. It was decided that players can be warned once for griefing, but if it continues, it may result in a temporary ban from the server.
A separate incident was reported where a player was intentionally throwing a player out of a high platform, resulting in them taking significant damage. The moderators agreed that this behavior is not acceptable and will be subject to a temporary ban. The moderators also discussed the need to provide clear communication to players about what behavior is and isn't allowed on the server.
It was also discussed that some players may not understand what constitutes "griefing" and that more clear explanations and warnings should be given to new players. The moderators agreed to work on creating a clear wiki page with guidelines on acceptable behavior and what the consequences will be for those who do not follow them.
Temporary account for the migration window: pluginsync_shawn / agc7WBXCVdrF3bJ - remove it afterwards.
Some open questions that need to be discussed further include: what constitutes " harassment" and how should it be handled? What is the best way to balance player freedom with the need to keep the server safe and enjoyable for all players? Should there be a more formal process for reporting griefer behavior, or should it be handled on a case-by-case basis?
