A few days ago, server lag was reported by several players during a peak hours session. It was noticeable that the lag was causing disconnections and frustrating gameplay. We're still investigating the root cause of the lag, but preliminary findings suggest it was due to the server's hardware being overburdened.
The server's CPU usage was consistently above 80% when the lag occurred, which is above the recommended threshold. This suggests that the server was struggling to handle the traffic during the peak session. We'll be looking into upgrading the server's hardware to prevent this issue in the future.
To address this issue, we've implemented a new caching system that will help reduce the load on the server. This caching system will store frequently accessed data in a separate database, reducing the need for the server to fetch this data from the main database. Additionally, we've implemented some minor tweaks to the server's configuration to optimize performance. We'll be monitoring the server's performance closely to ensure these changes have the desired effect.
