Whitelist Process Review

The whitelist was introduced to Rizzaster several months ago as a means to filter out unwanted players from our server. Initially, the whitelist was created using a simple auto-accept list system. However, over time, this approach proved to be unreliable and inconsistent, resulting in some new players being blocked unnecessarily.

A major incident occurred in June when a new player, intended to be a friend of a friend, was blocked from joining the server due to an outdated whitelist entry. The player's friend attempted to appeal the block, resulting in a heated discussion in the server chat about the whitelist's effectiveness. After reviewing the incident, it became clear that the auto-accept system was no longer sufficient. A new whitelist system was implemented, using a manual approval process for new members. This change has proven to be more effective in preventing unwanted players from joining, while still allowing for easier additions of new members.

The new whitelist system now relies on a combination of manual approval from moderators and automated checks to ensure that only verified members can join the server. This change has increased the time it takes to approve new members, but it has also reduced the number of unwanted players who have joined the server. The team is committed to continually reviewing and refining the whitelist process to ensure it remains effective and efficient.
