We chose to keep the rules concise and focused on specific behaviors, rather than listing off a long list of general rules and exceptions. This approach makes it easier for our moderators to enforce the rules consistently and for our members to understand what is expected of them. By defining a smaller set of clear rules, we can also reduce the number of gray areas that can lead to disputes or misunderstandings.
Specifically, we've decided to focus on rules that are most relevant to our community's online behavior. For example, we require users to identify themselves in the chat, as this helps us to quickly address any issues that may arise from anonymous or unknown interactions. We've also established rules around respect for others, including no trolling or harassment, and no sharing of personal or private information.
We've deliberately avoided including rules around content, such as what types of media can or cannot be shared. This is because we want to allow our members to express themselves and have fun, while still ensuring that the server remains a safe and respectful space. Instead, we rely on our moderators to make judgments about whether certain content is acceptable or not. This approach requires our moderators to be vigilant and proactive in enforcing the rules, but it also allows for more flexibility and creativity within the server.
By keeping the rules simple and focused, we aim to create an environment where our members feel comfortable and supported, while also maintaining a level of order and responsibility. We're constantly reviewing and refining our rules as needed, to ensure that they remain effective and relevant to our community's needs.
