Server Lag Runbook

The server lag issue on Rizzaster has been a persistent problem for some time, causing frustration among players and moderators alike. The lag is primarily caused by a combination of factors including high player traffic, resource-intensive game modes, and server hardware limitations.

The current server hardware consists of a single core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 40GB hard drive, which is not sufficient to handle the demands of modern online gaming. Additionally, the server's bandwidth is limited, leading to disconnections and lag spikes.

In order to address the server lag issue, a number of steps will be taken. First, the hardware will be upgraded to include a quad-core processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB hard drive. This will significantly improve the server's performance and allow it to handle more players and resource-intensive game modes. Second, the server will be upgraded to a new version of the game engine, which will provide better support for modern hardware and reduce lag. Third, moderation policies will be implemented to limit the number of players in certain game modes and prevent overwhelming the server with too many concurrent connections. Finally, the server will be monitored more closely to identify and address any issues as soon as they arise.
