Vote Rewards Incident Review

The previous vote rewards system, which awarded 100 Rizzaster tokens for every vote cast, was deemed too generous and resulted in vote spam. This occurred when players, particularly those new to the server, would flood the vote channel with multiple votes in a short period of time, often to gain access to crates or other rewards. As a result, the server's integrity and moderation team's workload were negatively impacted.

The reason for the initial design was to encourage participation and foster a sense of community. However, this was misinterpreted by some players as a way to exploit the system. In an effort to prevent abuse, it was decided to rework the vote rewards system. The new system now awards 20 Rizzaster tokens for each vote cast, and crate access is tied to a more restrictive set of requirements, such as completing specific tasks or participating in certain game events.

One of the main goals of the new system is to promote meaningful engagement over spamming. By reducing the number of tokens awarded per vote, it is now more difficult for players to artificially inflate their vote counts. Additionally, by tying crate access to more challenging tasks, it incentivizes players to participate in game events and contribute to the server's overall health.

In the short term, this change has resulted in a noticeable decrease in vote spam. Moderators are now able to focus on more productive tasks, such as monitoring the game's activity and responding to community feedback. The new system also sends a clear message to players that the server values responsible behavior and encourages players to contribute meaningfully.
