When a new player joins the server, they start as a Visitor and are not allowed to interact with other players or participate in events. They are free to explore the server and get familiar with its features and mechanics. As they play, they will earn experience points for various actions, such as creating structures, collecting resources, and completing quests. When they reach 100 experience points, they are automatically promoted to the Explorer rank.
The Explorer rank allows players to interact with other players, trade resources, and participate in some events. At this point, they are also eligible for promotion to the Warrior rank, which requires 300 experience points and grants access to more advanced content and features. The Warrior rank also comes with additional responsibilities, such as helping to maintain the server's economy and participating in more complex events.
Promotions are based on the player's performance and contributions to the server. The volunteer moderators review player progress and adjust rank requirements accordingly. Players can also earn promotions by completing special tasks and achievements, which are announced through in-game messages and server announcements. The promotion process is designed to be fair and transparent, with clear guidelines and criteria for each rank.
Design Note: I chose to structure the rank requirements as a linear progression, with each rank building on the previous one. This is a straightforward and easy-to-understand system, but it may not be the most engaging or challenging for experienced players. However, it provides a clear path for new players to follow and helps to keep the server stable and manageable for new moderators.
