Onboarding a New Moderator

We’ve decided to start our onboarding process with a structured but informal approach. The goal is to ensure new moderators feel welcome and empowered while they get up to speed with the server’s policies and community dynamics.

The initial steps involve a brief introduction to the community and its culture, along with a tour of the game mechanics and rules. This is followed by a practical orientation where the new moderator observes experienced moderators in action, focusing on real-world scenarios they might encounter. We want to avoid overwhelming them with too much information upfront, as this can be stressful and counterproductive. Instead, we aim to build confidence through gradual exposure and mentoring.
