Server Lag Incident Review

Last week, the Rizzaster server experienced a noticeable increase in lag, particularly during peak game hours. This lag was primarily caused by an overload on the server’s resources, particularly CPU and memory, due to a higher than usual number of concurrent players. Additionally, some outdated game scripts were consuming unnecessary resources, exacerbating the issue.

To address this, we updated the server configuration to better manage the load by optimizing the scripts and limiting the number of active players during peak times. We also implemented a caching mechanism to reduce the server’s load by storing frequently accessed data locally. These changes have already shown positive results, with a noticeable improvement in game performance and a reduction in lag reported by the players.
