/archive/server-icons/kits/misc/ · last edited 03 Apr 2023 · Development

A new moderator joins the team and needs to be familiarized with the server's operation. This runbook outlines the steps to be taken during the onboarding process. The goal is to have the new moderator up to speed within a week.

The new moderator is contacted via chat to introduce themselves and answer any questions they may have about the server. The contact informs them that they will be responsible for a small team of users and asks them to come up with a username for their team. This is discussed further during the onboarding process.

The new moderator is given a brief tour of the server's features and functionality. They are shown the main channels, game rooms, and how to use the reporting system. This is done through a combination of direct explanation and hands-on experience. The new moderator is encouraged to ask questions at any time.

The new moderator is given a copy of the server's rules and is asked to review them thoroughly. They are then expected to answer a few questions about the rules to ensure they understand them. This is used to identify any areas where the new moderator may need additional training.

The new moderator is asked to choose a username for their team and is given a list of available usernames. They are then expected to decide which users will be under their team's supervision. The new moderator is encouraged to communicate with the team members before the official start date to get a sense of their role and responsibilities.

The new moderator is given a trial period where they are expected to monitor the team's activity and report any issues that arise. They are also expected to communicate with the community and other moderators to get feedback and guidance. This is used to assess the new moderator's performance and identify any areas where they need additional training.

The new moderator is given a final check to ensure they are comfortable with their role and responsibilities. They are asked to review the rules, familiarize themselves with the reporting system, and get in touch with other moderators for any questions or concerns. The new moderator is then expected to be fully operational and ready to take on their new role.
