Chat Safety Concerns for Parents

/archive/seasons/mods/ · last edited 05 Sep 2020 · Security

We've had a few instances where parents have contacted us with questions about chat safety on our server. Most of these concerns are based on misconceptions about online behavior and the risks associated with our chat channels. We want to address these concerns directly so that parents have a better understanding of what to expect when their kids are on our server.

The primary concern seems to be about explicit language and content. We've implemented a strict filtering system that blocks any language or images that are deemed unsuitable for our audience. This includes explicit profanity, nudity, and certain types of graphic violence. Our moderators are trained to review and enforce these guidelines, and we regularly review and update our filtering system to stay on top of emerging threats.

Another common concern is about online predators and harassment. We take these issues extremely seriously and have a zero-tolerance policy towards any behavior that is considered harassment or bullying. Our moderators are trained to deal with these situations promptly and effectively, and we also have a system in place for reporting incidents. We also remind parents that we're a community-driven server, and our moderators are volunteers who are passionate about creating a safe and welcoming environment for our users.

We understand that our server is not perfect, and there will always be some risk associated with online activity. However, we believe that our system is robust enough to minimize these risks. We're committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our users, and we're always looking for ways to improve our security and moderation practices. If you have any concerns, we're happy to have a chat and answer any questions you may have.
