When a new moderator signs up, we send a notification with an introduction to the server's rules and expected standards of behavior. This is a good opportunity to mention the server's community culture and the types of roles that exist on the server. We also provide some information on the moderator roles, their responsibilities, and the basic tools they'll need.
The notification will contain a link to this document, along with a request for the new moderator to complete a few basic tasks to get started. This includes verifying their account, accepting the terms of service, and familiarizing themselves with the server's chat channels. We also schedule a quick call or meeting with the new moderator to go over any questions or concerns they may have.
The new moderator should take some time to explore the server's layout and get familiar with its various channels and features. The main channels are welcome, announcements, and staff, with smaller channels for different topics. The server also has a few custom plugins that help with moderation and server management. A quick review of these plugins and their functions can help the new moderator get up to speed.
The new moderator should complete the following initial tasks to get started:
Verify the server's bot list and familiarize themselves with its functionality
Review the server's current events and announcements
Check in with the existing moderators to introduce themselves and discuss any questions or concerns they may have
Start monitoring the welcome channel for new users and providing a warm welcome to the server
