Ban Appeals Process

The ban appeal process was discussed during the last moderator meeting. A few players have been banned for infractions, with some players asking to have their bans lifted. Moderators are responsible for reviewing these appeals and making decisions on whether to lift the bans or not. The goal is to ensure the community remains a safe and enjoyable space for all players.

When reviewing an appeal, moderators consider the player's behavior, the severity of the infraction, and any previous warnings or bans. They also consult with each other and take into account the overall community guidelines. The moderator making the decision will note their reasons for the decision in the player's account, so that the player can understand why their ban was lifted or not lifted.

A unanimous decision was made to have a standard policy for handling appeals, where any ban is automatically lifted after a set period of time, such as a week or a month, to give the player time to reflect on their actions and prevent the same behavior from happening again in the future. The moderator also decided to create a template for ban appeals, to ensure that all appeals follow a similar structure and are handled in a consistent manner.

Some questions were raised about the possibility of creating a formal appeal process, where players can submit a written appeal for review. This would provide more structure and clarity for the process, but would also add more work for the moderators. The discussion will continue, and it was decided to wait and observe the current process for a few weeks before deciding on a course of action.

The moderator team decided to review the community guidelines and make sure they are up-to-date and clear. They also agreed to provide more feedback to players when they are banned or warned, to help them understand what they did wrong and how to improve their behavior.
