RIZZASTER

Staff Handbook for New Helpers

/archive/plugins/rewards/ · last edited 18 Mar 2020 · Development

The staff handbook is meant to serve as a practical guide to help new helpers get up to speed on Rizzaster's inner workings. This document is by no means exhaustive, and it's intended to be a starting point for further learning and discussion. Given the small and informal nature of our community, we prioritize clarity and brevity over exhaustive documentation.

New helpers are expected to familiarize themselves with the server's layout and various channels (e.g., #introduce-yourself, #server-news). The staff team will provide a comprehensive tour during our bi-weekly meetups, but it's essential to have a basic understanding of the server's functionality before the meetups. This includes knowing how to invite users to specific channels, manage bans and warnings, and use the server's built-in moderation tools.

It's also crucial to understand that our community is primarily centered around kids and teenagers. Our staff team strives to maintain a safe and inclusive environment, but we can't always anticipate all potential issues. New helpers should be prepared to handle sensitive topics and conflicts in a thoughtful and empathetic manner. The staff team will provide guidance and support during onboarding, but new helpers are expected to think critically and make sound judgment calls when necessary.

In terms of specific protocols, new helpers should be aware that we have a three-strike system for users who break community rules. The staff team will also be discussing new policies and guidelines during our bi-weekly meetups, and new helpers are expected to contribute to these discussions and offer input. Overall, our goal is to create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for all users, and we rely on our team of helpers to ensure this happens.
