The next few weeks are looking busy, with a mix of established events and some new ones being tried out. The Minecraft build competition, which was a huge hit last time, is scheduled for the 17th and 18th of this month, and we've got a few new serverside events planned, including a game jam and a community art contest.
We've also had a few requests for more informal gatherings, like movie nights and LAN parties, and we're looking to schedule those soon. The idea is to have a few smaller, more low-key events interspersed with the bigger build competition and other main events, to give people something to look forward to in between.
The build competition is still in the planning stages, but we've got a rough outline of what we're hoping to do. We're thinking of having a few different tracks, with different game modes and challenges, and we'll be providing some prizes for the winners. We're also looking into ways to make the competition more accessible, such as allowing people to spectate or providing additional resources for those who need help.
I think we need to talk more about how we're going to handle the logistics of the build competition, including venue and equipment. I've been thinking that we could rent out a local community center for the weekend, but I haven't had a chance to check prices yet. We should also consider what kind of resources we'll need to support the event, and how we'll be able to provide them to the competitors.
Open questions: How are we going to handle the technical aspects of the event, such as setup and teardown? Are we going to have a specific schedule of events, or are we going to have more free-form activities? What kind of prizes are we going to give out, and how are we going to distribute them?
