Staff Handbook for New Helpers

/archive/pets/bots/ · last edited 24 Jan 2019 · Security

As a new helper, you are about to join a small team of volunteers dedicated to maintaining a fun and safe community for our players. We're glad to have you on board and want to make sure you're set up for success.

Before your first shift, please take a few minutes to read through this handbook and familiarize yourself with our community guidelines and server rules. These documents can be found on the community forum under the "Staff" section. We also have a comprehensive guide to our server software and features, which you can access through the "Staff" section of the wiki. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you're unsure about something - we're here to help.

During your first shift, you'll be shadowing an experienced mod who will show you the ropes and answer any questions you may have. They'll take you through the process of moderating a channel, responding to reports, and dealing with common issues that may arise. We also have a comprehensive guide to common issues, which you can refer to at any time.

As a helper, your primary responsibility is to ensure that all players are having a good time and that our community is kept safe and respectful. This includes enforcing our rules, answering questions, and providing general support to players. We also ask that you report any issues or concerns to the other mods so we can work together to resolve them.

On your first few shifts, you'll also have the opportunity to attend our weekly meetings, which are held on the community forum. These meetings are a great way to stay up-to-date on the latest server news and updates, and to ask questions or share your experiences with the other mods.

Remember, being a helper is a big responsibility, but it's also a lot of fun. We're a small team, and we rely on each other to keep the server running smoothly. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to reach out - we're always here to help.

Create an account on the community forum by following the registration process.

Complete the online training course, which can be found under the "Staff" section of the forum.
