Rank Requirements and Promotions

The introduction of rank requirements was a response to several incidents where users were granted excessive privileges due to lax moderation. Specifically, in the case of "Rico's Revenge", a group of users managed to gain admin status by manipulating the system, leading to a massive server-wide power struggle that nearly brought the server to its knees. Following this incident, it became clear that a more formalized rank system was needed.

The current rank requirements are as follows: to promote a user from member to senior member, they must have at least 500 in-game contributions (i.e. game-related actions, such as completing quests or crafting items) and have demonstrated responsible behavior as a senior member. To promote a senior member to junior moderator, they must have at least 1000 contributions and have shown a proven track record of fair and consistent moderation. These requirements were put in place to prevent users from abusing the system and to ensure that promotions are based on actual performance rather than arbitrary whim.

The promotion process itself involves a formal application and review process, where senior members can nominate themselves or others for promotion. The nominated user will then be reviewed by the moderation team, who will assess their eligibility based on the rank requirements. If the nomination is approved, the user will be promoted and will receive a corresponding rank change. If the nomination is rejected, the user will be informed of the reasons for the rejection and will have the opportunity to appeal the decision. This process helps to ensure that promotions are fair and transparent, and that users are held to a high standard of behavior.
