The last meeting discussed the current client version and mod pack requirements. The consensus was to stick with Java 8 for client versions, as it is still supported by most game servers and provides a stable platform. The mod pack will continue to be based on the "All the Mods" (ATM) pack, which is widely used and well-maintained.
The ATM pack is currently available in version 12, and we will aim to keep it at this version or slightly above. This will ensure compatibility with the majority of mods and minimize any potential issues. The team agreed that using a different mod pack or client version would increase the risk of problems and may require additional support from moderators.
One open question is how to handle new mods that are released outside of the ATM pack. We need to decide whether to include them in the mod pack or not. The team discussed the possibility of creating a list of approved mods, but this may add administrative burden. Another option is to require mods to be approved by a moderator before they can be added to the mod pack.
In terms of client version updates, we will need to balance the need for stability with the need for new features and security patches. The team agreed that we should keep an eye on the official Minecraft client update cycle and update our clients when necessary, while also considering the impact on mods and the overall server experience.
The next meeting will focus on testing the ATM pack with a new client version.
