Vote Rewards and Crate Mechanics Design Note

The decision to tie vote rewards directly to crate drops was made to encourage consistent participation without overwhelming the server economy. Each vote grants a single random crate, which contains a mix of cosmetic items and small utility perks. This creates a steady but limited reward loop that feels meaningful without devaluing items or encouraging spamming.

Crates are designed with a fixed size of 8 slots, filled with 5 to 7 items per crate. Item rarity is balanced across tiers: 60% common, 30% uncommon, 10% rare. The actual items are drawn from a shared pool with no duplicates in a single crate. This prevents players from getting the same item repeatedly, which helps maintain interest over time.

The system avoids timed rewards or daily login bonuses to keep effort minimal and accessible. Players don’t need to check a calendar or perform tasks beyond voting once every 24 hours. This low barrier to entry supports inclusion and ensures that casual players still have a reason to engage regularly.

We limit crate drop rate to one per vote to prevent inflation. Multiple crates per vote would lead to rapid item accumulation and reduce the perceived value of each drop. The current system keeps crate frequency predictable and aligns with player expectations based on other small-scale community servers.

The randomization is server-side and not visible to players, preventing exploitation through pattern recognition. Items are selected with a weighted random algorithm to ensure rarity distribution stays consistent over time, even after thousands of crate opens. This maintains fairness and reduces complaints about “bad luck.”
