Staff Handbook for New Helpers

/archive/guides/tebex/misc/ · last edited 28 May 2023 · Development

When a new helper joins the team, we want to make sure they have a solid foundation to build on. This handbook is a starting point for our volunteer moderators, and it should be read and understood by all new staff before they start assisting with events. It's not exhaustive, but it covers the essential points that every helper should be aware of.

First and foremost, our community is built on respect and inclusivity. We strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for all players, regardless of age, skill level, or background. This means being patient, empathetic, and open-minded when dealing with conflicts or difficult situations. Our staff is not a replacement for the community itself, but rather a support system that helps facilitate positive interactions and prevent harassment.

Helping out on the server involves more than just moderating gameplay. You'll also be responsible for ensuring that the community's rules and guidelines are enforced fairly and consistently. This includes monitoring chat channels, resolving disputes, and making decisions that impact the server's overall atmosphere. Our staff meetings and training sessions will provide more in-depth information on these topics, but it's essential to understand the basics from the get-go.

When in doubt, it's always better to err on the side of caution. If you're unsure about how to handle a situation or need guidance, don't hesitate to reach out to other staff members for support. We're a collaborative team, and we rely on each other to keep the server running smoothly. By following these guidelines and working together, we can create an amazing community experience for our players.
