Client Versioning and Mod Pack Update Protocol

Regularly check the server's version of the mod pack to ensure it is up-to-date and compatible with the latest game client versions. The server's current version can be found in the server's logs, which can be accessed by a moderator.

Compare the server's mod pack version to the latest supported version on the official modpack website. The latest version is usually marked as the 'recommended' version.

If the server's mod pack version is older than the recommended version, update the mod pack by downloading the latest version from the official website and replacing the existing mod pack files on the server.

Before updating the mod pack, ensure that the server's version of the game client is compatible with the new mod pack version. Check the game client's changelog to ensure that the new version does not introduce any major changes that would break the mod pack.

If a major change is introduced to the game client that would break the mod pack, consider updating the game client on the server to the latest version before updating the mod pack. This can be done by providing clients with a way to update their game version automatically or by manually updating the client version on a small group of clients before notifying the rest of the population.

Once the mod pack has been updated, test the game and modpack on a small group of clients to ensure that everything is working as expected.

Make the updated mod pack available to the rest of the server's population and inform the clients of any changes or updates.

Monitor the server's logs for any issues or problems with the updated mod pack. If any issues arise, work with the moderators to troubleshoot and resolve the problems.
