We discussed the current state of griefer reporting on the server. While we've had success in identifying and dealing with repeat offenders, there's still room for improvement. The general consensus is that we need a more standardized and effective system for reporting griefers.
The current method of reporting involves shouting in chat, which is often met with confusion and skepticism. We discussed the possibility of creating a separate channel for reporting griefers, which could include a list of clear guidelines and a designated moderator team to handle the reports. This would allow us to take action more quickly and efficiently, and reduce the likelihood of false reports.
We also discussed the importance of considering the context of each report. Some griefing behavior may be unintentional or even caused by a player's in-game actions. Our goal is not to shame or harass players, but to maintain a fair and enjoyable environment for everyone. The moderators agreed to review each report carefully and take a nuanced approach, taking into account the player's actions and behavior.
Open questions: How do we balance the need for swift action with the need for due process? How can we ensure that reports are handled fairly and consistently? What additional support or resources can we provide to help moderators deal with the emotional toll of dealing with griefers?
Action items: Create a dedicated channel for reporting griefers, develop a set of clear guidelines for reporting, and establish a clear protocol for moderator review and response. The moderators will work together to develop a system for tracking and addressing repeated offenders, and will provide training on the new protocol for all moderators.
