We chose to keep the contest relatively open-ended this time around, allowing players to explore different themes and styles without too much structural constraint. This decision reflects a desire to encourage creativity and experimentation, as well as to avoid inadvertently dictating the types of builds we want to see. By not requiring a specific theme or shape, we're giving our builders the freedom to showcase their unique talents and perspectives, which can lead to some fascinating and unexpected results.
At the same time, we still want to ensure that the contest remains engaging and fun for everyone involved. To this end, we've set a general size limit for entries – builds should be around 1-2 blocks in any direction – to prevent over-the-top creations that might be difficult for others to relate to. We're also open to suggestions for judges or panel members who can help evaluate entries and provide constructive feedback, but we're not committing to a specific judging system just yet.
One potential area for concern is the impact of scale on the overall user experience. With larger builds, players may experience lag or performance issues, particularly if they're using lower-end hardware. We're monitoring the situation closely and will likely provide more guidance or recommendations for build size and performance as we go along.
