We have a routine for backing up the world files on a weekly basis, which includes all the data that makes up the game world, such as the layout of the map, the positions of objects and structures, and any other relevant data. This backup is stored on a separate server that is not accessible to the public, and is used in case something goes wrong and the data needs to be restored.

The backup process itself is simple: our volunteer moderators run a script that copies the necessary files to the backup server, using the same structure and naming conventions as the live files. This ensures that the backup can be easily identified and restored if needed.

It's worth noting that we also manually review the backup files every few months to ensure that they are complete and accurate. This helps prevent any potential issues with data corruption or loss. In the event of an issue, the backup files can be restored to a previous version of the game, which helps us get the game back up and running as quickly as possible.

We also keep a record of the backup process, including the date and time of the backup, and any issues that arise during the process. This helps us identify any potential problems and take steps to prevent them from happening in the future.
