Parent's Questions About Chat Safety

/archive/datapacks/maps/misc/ · last edited 01 Sep 2020 · Support

In response to increasing inquiries from parents, the moderators have agreed to create a new policy to ensure the chat safety of the Rizzaster community. This policy aims to clarify what constitutes acceptable behavior and to provide guidance for both parents and the community at large.

One incident that brought this issue to the forefront was a report of a user being subjected to harassment by another player. The moderators reviewed the chat logs and determined that the perpetrator had repeatedly used profanity and personal attacks, while the victim had initially tolerated the behavior in an attempt to avoid conflict. However, after the moderators stepped in and reprimanded the perpetrator, the victim felt more comfortable reporting the incident. This experience highlighted the need for clear communication and consequences for misconduct.

In light of this incident, the moderators have revised the chat rules to explicitly prohibit profanity, personal attacks, and discriminatory language. They have also emphasized the importance of kindness, respect, and empathy towards all community members. To ensure that users understand these rules, a new welcome message has been added to the chat, which explains the community's values and expectations.

The moderators have also established a clear process for reporting incidents of harassment or bullying. Users who witness or experience such behavior are encouraged to report it to a moderator immediately. The moderators will then investigate the incident and take necessary action, which may include issuing warnings, temporary bans, or permanent account suspensions. By working together, the community can maintain a safe and respectful environment for all members.
