Ban Appeals

When a player is banned and appeals the decision, the moderators will follow this runbook to handle the situation.

Review the player's chat history and any relevant information in the server's database to determine the reason for the ban. Make sure to verify that the ban was indeed issued by the moderator who made the decision. If the ban was made by a different moderator, contact the lead moderator for guidance.

If the appeal is due to a misunderstanding or a misinterpretation of a rule, and the player agrees to follow the rules, consider lifting the ban. If the player disputes the rules themselves, refer them to our server rules document and ask them to read and agree to them before having their ban lifted.

If the appeal is due to a technical issue, such as a misfired ban or a incorrect IP address, and the player provides proof of the issue, consider lifting the ban. However, if the issue is deemed to be user error, do not lift the ban.

If the appeal is due to a legitimate grievance, and the player provides evidence to support their claim, consider investigating the matter and potentially lifting the ban. However, if the evidence is deemed to be false or misleading, do not lift the ban.

If the appeal is deemed to be frivolous or abusive, the moderator should inform the player that their appeal has been denied and provide a reason for the denial. The moderator should also consider escalating the issue to the lead moderator for further review.

Regardless of the outcome of the appeal, all moderators should document the outcome in the server's database and review the decision to ensure that it aligns with our server rules and policies.
