Onboarding a New Moderator

When you start as a new moderator, you're entering a shared household with a bunch of people who are already responsible for other tasks. This means that some things are automatic - you'll be added to the server automatically, you'll have access to the same tools and features, and you'll be connected to the rest of the community. However, being a moderator comes with its own set of responsibilities, so we'll go over some key things you'll need to understand and do.

First things first, you'll need to get familiar with the server's layout and the different rooms. We've got channels for different activities, from casual chat to more structured groups. You'll need to get a handle on which ones are for what, and how to manage them when things get busy. You'll also need to understand the server's rules, which can be found in the #rules channel. These rules are in place to keep everyone safe and happy, and we expect everyone to follow them.

When it comes to actual moderation, we expect you to be active and engaged. This means watching the chat, intervening when necessary, and keeping an eye on things to make sure everyone is having a good time. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you're unsure about something - the other moderators are here to support you. We also encourage you to get involved in helping with tasks and events, as this is a great way to learn more about the server and meet the other community members.

We also want to remind you that moderation can be stressful, especially when things get busy or out of hand. Don't be too hard on yourself if you make a mistake - it's an easy thing to do, and we're all here to help each other out.
