The building contest rules were discussed and finalized during the last moderator meeting. The goal of the contest is to encourage creativity and skill in building designs. The contest will consist of a 3-hour time frame, during which participants will have access to a limited set of building materials and resources. The materials will include standard building blocks, decorative items, and a selection of themed items.
The contest will be judged based on creativity, originality, and overall aesthetic appeal. A panel of three judges, including two veteran moderators and a rotating fourth judge, will evaluate the entries and award prizes. The first place prize will consist of a $50 gift card to the community's online store, a feature on the community's social media page, and a special "builder of the month" badge. The second and third place prizes will consist of $25 and $15 gift cards to the online store, respectively.
One open question that arose during the discussion was the issue of collaboration. While the rules do not explicitly prohibit collaboration, it was noted that participants who work together will not be eligible for separate prizes. The moderators decided to leave this rule open to interpretation, but encouraged participants to clarify their intentions with their collaborators before the contest begins.
The moderators also decided to provide additional guidance on building contest rules on the community's forum, and to make an example build available for inspiration. The example build will be due at the same time as the contest, and will be subject to the same rules and judging criteria.
