We discussed the current state of client versions and mod packs for Rizzaster during the last server maintenance meeting. The consensus was that we're still running Minecraft 1.18, which is a few months old. We're currently using the default vanilla mod pack, but it's becoming increasingly outdated.
We agreed to upgrade to Minecraft 1.19 as soon as possible, preferably within the next month. This will give us access to more recent updates, bug fixes, and new features. We'll also be looking into updating our mod pack to something more modern, such as the Forge mod pack. This will allow us to better maintain the stability and performance of the server.
The question of whether to allow mods on the server is still up for debate. We've had some issues with mods causing server crashes and lag, but some members have expressed a desire to play more custom content. We'll need to weigh the pros and cons of allowing mods and consider implementing some sort of moderation system to ensure they don't cause too much trouble.
One member mentioned the possibility of using a mod pack with a built-in anti-cheat system. This could help reduce the risk of cheaters joining the server. However, this would require significant updates to our mod pack and potentially new client versions. We'll need to research this further and discuss the feasibility of implementing such a system.
The server's mod pack manager has offered to help with updating the mod pack and finding more modern options. We'll be reaching out to them to discuss the details of the upgrade and how to proceed with implementing mods on the server.
