We've had a few requests from parents asking about our approach to chat safety, so I wanted to take a moment to explain our general stance on the issue. Essentially, we believe that we're doing the right thing by implementing a fairly traditional set of rules and guidelines, with the added twist that our moderators are volunteers who are passionate about the game and its community. This means that they're often more attuned to the nuances of online behavior and can take a more informal approach to enforcing the rules, which can sometimes lead to a more positive and supportive chat environment.
That being said, we also make sure to have clear rules in place that outline what is and isn't acceptable behavior, and we regularly review and update our guidelines to ensure they remain relevant and effective. We're not going to get into explicit or graphic content - that's just not something we're willing to deal with. But we will allow for a certain amount of joking around and banter, as long as it's not at the expense of others or the game itself.
One thing that's worth noting is that our chat is a mixed age group, which can sometimes lead to interesting (if not always easy) conversations about maturity and online behavior. We're doing our best to create a space where all users feel welcome and supported, regardless of age or background. Of course, we can't anticipate every possible situation, but we're committed to doing our best to foster a positive and respectful community.
